Introduction
For centuries, Chinese deities have been represented not only through paintings, but also through sculpture.
Created in clay, wood, stone, bronze, porcelain, and other materials, these sacred figures occupied temples, shrines, monasteries, and ritual spaces throughout the Chinese world.
Unlike paintings, sculpture transforms divine imagery into physical presence. These figures were not simply viewed—they shared space with worshippers, received offerings, and became part of religious life.
