Xiahou Dun

Overview

夏侯惇是曹操麾下最重要的将领之一，也是曹魏阵营中最具辨识度的武将。《三国演义》中，他征战时被流矢射中左眼，拔箭时连眼珠一同带出，遂大呼“父精母血，不可弃也”，将眼珠吞下继续作战。这一极具传奇色彩的情节，使独眼形象成为夏侯惇最鲜明的视觉标志，也使他成为三国故事中最著名的猛将之一。

Xiahou Dun was one of Cao Cao’s most important generals and remains one of the most recognizable warriors of the Cao Wei camp. In Romance of the Three Kingdoms, he is struck in the left eye by an enemy arrow. When he pulls out the arrow, his eyeball comes out with it; declaring that it is “the essence and blood of my father and mother, not to be discarded,” he swallows the eye and continues fighting. This legendary episode made the one-eyed warrior Xiahou Dun’s defining visual image and established him as one of the most famous fierce generals in the Three Kingdoms tradition.
