The Body-Outside-Body Method is a stable descriptive name for Sun Wukong’s power to turn plucked hairs into active copies of himself. The original novel repeatedly shows the action, although it does not consistently announce this exact label as a formal spell title.
In chapter 21, Wukong bites hairs into pieces and blows them into many smaller monkeys during a fight. Chapter 73 has him transform hairs into dozens of little pilgrims who swarm the Daoists. The copies multiply his reach, distract opponents, and let one body act as a crowd.
The method visualizes a central feature of Wukong: his body is a resource for transformation, not a fixed boundary. The copies should be understood as temporary products of hair and breath within the narrative, without inventing a fixed clone limit, cooldown, or independent personality system.
