Luya Daoren is one of the most mysterious and powerful immortals in Investiture of the Gods. He does not belong to the ordinary master-disciple hierarchy of the Twelve Golden Immortals, yet he appears at several crucial moments to assist the Xiqi side.
When Zhao Gongming descends to support the Shang forces, his powerful magic and treasures repeatedly defeat figures on the Chan side and place Xiqi in serious danger. Luya Daoren then appears and uses the Nail-Head Seven Arrows technique against Zhao Gongming, ultimately bringing about his death.
One of Luya Daoren’s most famous magical treasures is the Immortal-Slaying Flying Knife. Its extraordinary power allows him to destroy formidable opponents and gives Luya a particularly distinctive place among the supernatural characters of the novel.
Unlike many Chan immortals who remain involved in the war for extended periods, Luya often appears at a decisive moment, completes a particular task, and then departs. His origins and identity remain deliberately mysterious.
