Peng Qi

彭玘

Peng Qi, nicknamed the “Heavenly-Eyed General,” is a Liangshan hero in Water Margin who begins as an officer of the government forces. Together with Han Tao, he serves under Huyan Zhuo during the campaign against Liangshan.

When Huyan Zhuo attacks the stronghold with his linked cavalry formations, Peng Qi participates as one of his subordinate commanders. The cavalry initially places Liangshan under severe pressure, making Huyan Zhuo, Han Tao, and Peng Qi important enemies whom the brotherhood must find a way to overcome.

Once Liangshan develops a method to break the linked cavalry, the government campaign begins to collapse. Peng Qi is captured during the fighting and subsequently joins Liangshan, changing from an officer sent to destroy the stronghold into one of its own warriors.

After joining the brotherhood, Peng Qi continues to serve as a mounted commander. Following the imperial amnesty, he accompanies Liangshan through later campaigns and is eventually killed during the war against Fang La. His connection with Huyan Zhuo and Han Tao forms part of the larger pattern through which defeated government officers become Liangshan heroes.
