Taibai Jinxing is an important celestial official in Journey to the West and frequently acts as a mediator, recruiter, and messenger between the Jade Emperor and Sun Wukong.
After Sun Wukong establishes himself at Flower-Fruit Mountain and demonstrates extraordinary power, Heaven begins to take notice of him. Taibai Jinxing recommends recruitment rather than immediate military confrontation and travels to invite the Monkey King to Heaven.
During Sun Wukong’s first stay in the celestial court, he is appointed Keeper of the Heavenly Horses. When he discovers how low-ranking the position is, he angrily returns to Flower-Fruit Mountain. As Heaven again considers how to handle him, Taibai Jinxing continues to support attempts at appeasement and honorary appointment.
The policy ultimately fails when Sun Wukong launches his great rebellion in Heaven, but Taibai Jinxing retains his distinctive role as a comparatively conciliatory celestial envoy.
Within Celestial Generals, he is not a combat-oriented figure. Instead, he functions as an important Person Subject connecting the Jade Emperor, Sun Wukong, and the political order of the celestial court.
