The Qin Family Jian Method is Qin Qiong’s inherited way of using rigid jian maces in Shuo Tang. It turns the already published Twin Jian Maces from a pair of objects into a body of family skill that can be taught, concealed, and judged against another lineage.
Chapter 9 directly contrasts Qin family jian with Luo family spear. Qin Qiong and Luo Cheng swear to exchange their arts without reservation, yet each withholds a decisive move: Qin conceals the killer-mace method and Luo conceals the returning-horse spear. The broken exchange foreshadows later misfortune.
Jian here means the Chinese rigid striking weapon, not a double-edged sword. The method’s cultural importance lies in lineage and trust: technique is family capital, and incomplete transmission becomes a moral episode as well as a martial one.
