Qin Qiong

Overview

秦琼（字叔宝）是隋末唐初名将，也是中国民间最著名的武将形象之一。历史上的秦琼追随李世民征战四方；在《隋唐演义》等小说、戏曲中，他又被塑造成忠勇豪侠的代表人物。后世民间信仰中，秦琼常与尉迟恭并列为门神，两人的披甲武将形象广泛见于年画、壁画、雕塑及寺庙建筑装饰。

Qin Qiong, courtesy name Shubao, was a renowned general of the late Sui and early Tang periods and later became one of the most celebrated martial figures in Chinese popular culture. Historically, he fought alongside Li Shimin in numerous campaigns; in novels and traditional drama such as Sui-Tang Romance, he was further transformed into an archetype of loyalty, courage, and chivalric heroism. In later popular religion, Qin Qiong is frequently paired with Yuchi Gong as a Door God, their armored warrior images appearing widely in New Year prints, murals, sculpture, and temple architecture.
