Ankle Swallow is a beast-head fitting placed around the lower end of Shin Armor near the ankle. It visually covers or organizes straps and leather in this transition and can unify the passage from Shin Armor through the ankle to Foot Armor.
Ornamental Role
Ankle Swallow is primarily a decorative cover or connector, not a critical mechanical component. The armor system can function without it and another fitting can replace it. It is not a primary load-bearing part and does not belong to the main suspension system.
Movement and Visual Identity
Because it sits near a moving joint, it should not turn shin and foot into one rigid shell. Its identity is the low ankle placement and swallowing beast-head form. Animal type, material, and attachment may vary. Historical images support visible placement and ornament; hidden connections remain example-specific.
