The Blue Luan is a traditional Chinese divine bird and a high-ranking immortal mount type in Investiture of the Gods.
This Subject represents a reusable divine-bird and mount visual type. It does not claim that only one Blue Luan exists.
Yunxiao’s Mount
Yunxiao rides a Blue Luan when the Three Xiao Sisters descend from their island. The mount immediately distinguishes her as an immortal maiden from an island realm rather than a warrior on an ordinary horse.
The Meaning of Blue-Green
The Chinese color word qing does not map to one modern shade of green. It can move across blue, blue-green, cool green, and blue-gray.
CG therefore does not need to lock every Blue Luan to bright green. Its palette can shift with the associated character.
The Luan Bird
The luan belongs to the Chinese auspicious-bird tradition. It should feel more elegant, elongated, and supernatural than an ordinary bird.
It can share visual kinship with the phoenix tradition without becoming a simple copy of a phoenix.
Generic Subject Principle
This page represents the Blue Luan as a type of divine bird mount. Different characters may connect to the same Subject without implying that they ride the same individual animal.
