Gao Huaide is an early Song military commander who also appears in later storytelling traditions surrounding the founding heroes of the dynasty. Born into a military family, he takes part in the warfare of the late Five Dynasties and early Northern Song period and becomes associated with the rise of Zhao Kuangyin.
In later heroic and historical storytelling, Gao Huaide is often presented as a dependable martial commander among the generals who help establish the new dynasty. His image fits naturally within the visual world of early Song military heroes.
For the CG character network, Gao Huaide carries an additional importance. In some Yue Fei storytelling and popular heroic traditions, Gao Chong is identified as a descendant of Gao Huaide. This genealogy creates a narrative bridge between early Song founding heroes and the much later legends of the Yue Family Army.
Gao Huaide can therefore function both as an independent early Song warrior and as an ancestral node in Gao Chong’s background. As CG eventually expands into narratives surrounding Zhao Kuangyin and the founding of the Song, his position can help connect those stories to the wider martial universe.
