Overview

高宠是南宋抗金题材文学中最著名的猛将之一，以盖世勇力和极具传奇色彩的战死方式闻名。他并非正史中的重要将领，而主要活跃于《说岳全传》等岳飞故事体系，被塑造成岳家军阵营中武力最为惊人的英雄之一。高宠曾接连击败金军猛将，最著名的故事是“挑滑车”：面对从山坡冲下的铁滑车，他连续以长枪将其挑翻，最终因战马力竭，被滑车压死。高宠在后世岳飞传说中代表了一种近乎不可阻挡的纯粹勇武。“挑滑车”尤其强化了这一特征：他并非败于敌将，而是在连续挑翻铁滑车之后因战马力竭而死，使他的勇猛最终以一种极为壮烈的方式达到顶点。

Gao Chong is one of the most celebrated warriors in the literary tradition surrounding the Southern Song wars against the Jin dynasty. Rather than being a major figure in official history, he is best known from The Complete Story of Yue Fei and related legends, where he is portrayed as one of the most formidable fighters associated with Yue Fei’s forces. His most famous episode is the “lifting of the iron carts”: as heavy war carts thunder down a slope toward him, Gao Chong repeatedly overturns them with his spear until his exhausted horse collapses and he is crushed beneath the advancing carts. In later legends of Yue Fei, Gao Chong represents martial prowess in its most overwhelming form. The episode of the iron carts brings this quality to its climax: he is not defeated by an enemy warrior, but dies only after repeatedly overturning the charging carts until his horse finally collapses beneath him.
