The Golden-Whiskered Ao Fish is the original form revealed when Wuyun Xian is subdued.
In human form, Wuyun Xian is a powerful Jie adept who wields a sword and the Hunyuan Hammer and defeats both Chijingzi and Guangchengzi. When Zhunti finally subdues him, however, his true form appears as an enormous golden-whiskered ao fish.
Wuyun Xian’s Original Form
After the Six-Purity Bamboo prevents Wuyun Xian from maintaining human form, he transforms on the spot into the Golden-Whiskered Ao Fish.
This is no ordinary aquatic creature. It is large enough to carry a rider. The Water-and-Fire Attendant mounts its back and leads it toward the Eight-Virtues Pool in the West.
An Ao, Not an Ordinary Fish
In Chinese traditional imagination, an ao is a vast and marvelous aquatic beast. CG should not render it as an ordinary carp or generic sea fish.
Its design may combine:
- immense scale
- traits of a giant turtle, softshell turtle, or ancient aquatic beast
- long whiskers
- supernatural presence
- a body capable of carrying a rider
The source does not establish a single fixed balance between armored head, scales, and shell, so the design should preserve room for interpretation.
Golden Whiskers
The golden whiskers are the form’s clearest identifying feature. Long golden barbels can provide the visual focus that distinguishes it from other ao creatures.
CG Visual Language
- colossal aquatic beast
- long golden whiskers
- heavy mass
- ancient presence
- capable of being ridden
- never an ordinary fish
It should feel like an ancient water creature that has cultivated into an immortal being.
