The Horse-Felling Venom Sting is the Scorpion Demon’s most dangerous innate attack in Journey to the West. It is her own venomous tail sting and supernatural power, not a detachable weapon.
Body and Supernatural Power
The sting belongs to the Scorpion Demon’s body. She recounts that she once stung the Buddha’s left thumb after being pushed from the listening assembly, and she later uses it in close combat when an opponent breaks through her trident defense.
Wounding Sun Wukong
The sting pierces Sun Wukong’s scalp and causes pain that his hardened body cannot ignore. Its effect forces him to retreat from a fight he had not lost by ordinary weapons.
Wounding Zhu Bajie
Zhu Bajie is also driven back by the venom. The repeated use confirms that the attack is a stable part of the demon’s combat identity rather than a single surprise.
The Rooster Star as Its Counter
Mao Ri Xingguan’s rooster nature is the natural counter to the scorpion. His cry breaks her power and completes the animal relationship built into the episode.
