Long Xuhu is an ancient North Sea creature who becomes Jiang Ziya’s second disciple in Investiture of the Gods. Shen Gongbao deceives him with the promise that eating Jiang Ziya will extend his life. Jiang answers the ambush by planting the Apricot-Yellow Banner and daring the creature to pull it up. Long Xuhu strains with both hands and changing force but cannot move it; thunder binds him to the flag, and fear turns attempted murder into surrender and discipleship.
His gift is immediate and strange. Opening his hands produces millstone-sized rocks in volleys compared to flying locusts and sudden rain. Jiang Ziya recognizes their value in raids and brings him into the Zhou army. Long Xuhu later drives Deng Chanyu back under the barrage, but her own stone strikes the hollow of his long neck and topples his one-legged body; Yang Jian intervenes before she can kill him. The encounter shows both the reach of his magic and the physical weakness a precise enemy can exploit.
Near the war’s end he faces the giant Wu Wenhua. Staying low and striking legs and waist, Long Xuhu lands dozens of stones until the huge warrior retreats in pain. Wu Wenhua answers that humiliation with a night assault on the Zhou camp, where Long Xuhu dies amid the slaughter. He receives no place on the divine register—the poem at his introduction explicitly says his name is absent—but his service still runs from Jiang Ziya’s early defense of Western Qi to the last supernatural battles before Shang falls.
