Lu Su

鲁肃

Lu Su, courtesy name Zijing, is an important strategist and political figure of Eastern Wu in Romance of the Three Kingdoms. He is closely connected with Sun Quan, Zhou Yu, and the development of the alliance between Sun Quan and Liu Bei.

When Cao Cao’s army advances south, the Wu court becomes deeply divided over whether to resist or surrender. Lu Su supports cooperation with Liu Bei and actively works to establish an alliance against Cao Cao.

Around the Battle of Red Cliffs, Lu Su repeatedly serves as a diplomatic and political intermediary among Liu Bei, Zhuge Liang, Zhou Yu, and Sun Quan. After the allied victory, control of Jing Province becomes an increasingly important source of tension between the two sides.

Following Zhou Yu’s death, Lu Su continues to hold major responsibilities in Wu and attempts to preserve the alliance with Liu Bei in order to maintain resistance against Cao Cao in the north.

Lu Su is not primarily known for personal martial prowess, but he is an important Person Subject connecting Sun Quan, Zhou Yu, Liu Bei, and the alliance politics of the Three Kingdoms.
