Shiji Niangniang is a female immortal in Investiture of the Gods who resides at White Bone Cave on Skeleton Mountain. A long-cultivated supernatural figure, she becomes closely connected with one of the major crises of Nezha’s early life.
While at Chentang Pass, Nezha uses a powerful bow and accidentally kills one of Shiji’s attendants. When Shiji discovers what has happened, she seeks an explanation, bringing her into direct conflict with Nezha and his master Taiyi Zhenren.
Nezha is unable to deal with Shiji alone and turns to his master for protection. The dispute escalates into a confrontation between immortals, and Taiyi Zhenren ultimately traps Shiji within the Nine-Dragon Divine Fire Cover, where she is destroyed.
Shiji Niangniang is therefore both a formidable female immortal and an important force in the development of Nezha’s early story. Her conflict with Nezha and Taiyi Zhenren transforms an accidental act into a much larger struggle within the supernatural world.
