The Wenhuang Formation is Lu Yue’s most representative formation in Investiture of the Gods and one of the plague division’s most important battlefield expressions.
Lu Yue can already spread illness through an entire city with plague pellets. The formation concentrates that disastrous power into a single battlefield environment.
Lu Yue Establishes the Formation
When Lu Yue returns to fight Xiqi, he does more than charge on the Golden-Eyed Camel. He turns his plague arts into a formation.
Once Jiang Ziya enters, he is no longer facing only one enemy. He is surrounded by an entire space filled with plague vapors, poisonous haze, and red sand.
Black Mist and Red Sand
The environment is the formation’s strongest visual element:
- black mist
- red sand
- plague vapors
- poisonous clouds
- obscured sight
People and weapons are surrounded by unclean air. Unlike a formation built mainly from blades, the environment itself attacks everyone inside it.
The Wenhuang Umbrella
Lu Yue activates the formation through the Wenhuang Umbrella and related plague methods. It is therefore not an arrangement of ordinary troops, but a highly magical battlefield of epidemic disaster.
Yang Ren Breaks the Formation
Lu Yue is finally confronted by Yang Ren. Yang Ren’s unusual divine eyes and the Five-Fire Seven-Bird Fan can counter Lu Yue’s system.
The formation naturally connects Lu Yue, Yang Ren, Jiang Ziya, and the plague division’s treasures.
CG Visual Language
The Wenhuang Formation should not look beautiful. It should feel dark, airless, poisonous, full of moving red sand and blocked by black mist.
Unlike the scale and flowing movement of the Nine-Bend Yellow River Formation, this formation should make the battlefield itself look diseased.
