Xin Huan is a warrior of the Shang forces in Investiture of the Gods and one of the notable commanders serving under Grand Preceptor Wen. His most distinctive feature is a pair of wings that allow him to fly, giving him a form of battlefield mobility unavailable to ordinary warriors.
When Grand Preceptor Wen leads his forces against Xiqi, Xin Huan accompanies the campaign and uses his aerial ability in combat against the unusual warriors and supernatural figures of the opposing side.
Xin Huan forms a particularly striking visual counterpart to Lei Zhenzi, another winged warrior capable of fighting in the air. The two belong to opposing camps, yet both are defined by wings, flight, and a battlefield identity that extends above the ordinary ground war.
Xin Huan is eventually killed during the Investiture conflict and enters the wider system of deification. Although not one of the central figures of the novel, his winged martial appearance gives him a highly recognizable place among its many supernatural warriors.
