Fan of Five Fires and Seven Birds’ Plumage

五火七禽扇

The Fan of Five Fires and Seven Birds' Plumage is a fire-wielding treasure of Qingxu Daode Zhenjun in Investiture of the Gods. Its name combines several kinds of fire with feathers from seven kinds of birds, turning a familiar handheld fan into an unmistakable instrument of immortal power.

Chapter 49 gives the treasure its full name and describes the five fires and seven birds. Qingxu Daode Zhenjun uses it against Wang Bian after entering the Red Water Formation. The fan matters because its sweep brings a deadly magical confrontation to an abrupt end, rather than merely helping its bearer in an ordinary exchange of weapons.

The treasure also belongs to the master's teaching lineage. In chapter 80, Qingxu Daode Zhenjun equips Yang Ren with a fire fan before sending him to relieve Jiang Ziya; chapter 81 shows Yang Ren burning the plague formation's umbrellas and platform. The fan therefore identifies both the immortal teacher and the disciple who carries his aid into battle. Its feathers suggest gathered natural wonders, while the story explains the formidable fire they release.
