Qingxu Daode Zhenjun

Qingxu Daode Zhenjun is the Chan immortal of Purple Sun Cave on Green Peak Mountain in Investiture of the Gods. He first takes Huang Tianhua away for mountain training while the boy is young, creating a master-disciple bond that later returns directly to the Shang–Zhou war. When Huang Feihu’s family flees the capital and becomes trapped between pursuing forces and the five passes, Qingxu uses the Primordial Banner to remove them from immediate danger.

He then sends Huang Tianhua down to fight for Xiqi. The disciple receives a white jade qilin, Fire-Dragon Darts, and other weapons associated with his mountain training, and repeatedly returns to the cave for instruction or aid. Qingxu’s gifts are never merely ceremonial: mount and projectiles determine how Huang Tianhua moves and attacks on the battlefield, while the master’s decisions place him at the right crisis, including the rescue of his father and later combat against Shang commanders.

Qingxu also appears among the Twelve Golden Immortals in the campaigns against the Ten Absolute, Immortal-Execution, and Myriad Immortals formations. He therefore combines the quiet authority of a cave teacher with direct participation in the Chan order’s collective wars. Daoist robes, sword, mountain cloud, the Primordial Banner, and the jade mount beside his armored disciple give a grounded visual account of the man who prepares Huang Tianhua for both victory and his appointed death.
