Stone Yuanbao is a thrown combat object used by Shi Luanying in The Story of Yue Fei. Its name borrows the recognizable outline of a yuanbao, but the novel presents it as a weapon rather than circulating money.
Drawn from a Brocade Pouch
Chapter 68 describes Shi Luanying taking a stone yuanbao from a brocade pouch and throwing it during mounted combat. The pouch and the act of drawing the object are explicit parts of the scene.
Striking Niu Tong
When Niu Tong pursues her, Shi Luanying throws the stone yuanbao into the air. It falls against his waist and forces him to retreat in pain. The weapon interrupts his stronger close-range attack through timing and surprise.
A Repeated Throwing Weapon
Shi Luanying uses another stone yuanbao against Ouyang Congshan, confirming that the object is not a one-time improvised stone. The same episode separately gives her a stone ruyi, so the two weapons should not be merged.
What the Text Does Not Fix
The novel does not specify the yuanbao’s dimensions, weight, stone type, or method of manufacture. CG therefore preserves the named form and its throwing use without inventing a technical reconstruction or treating it as actual currency.
