Yu Yuan is the One-Qi Immortal of Penglai Island in Investiture of the Gods and the master of Yu Hua.
His connection to the Blood-Transforming Divine Blade is fundamental: the treasure used by Yu Hua was originally forged by Yu Yuan. Yu Yuan is therefore the true source behind the entire blade episode.
A Ferocious Adept
The novel gives Yu Yuan an exceptionally recognizable appearance: an indigo-blue face, red hair, tusks, a height of more than seventeen feet, and eyes blazing with a fierce light.
This is not the appearance of a mild scholar. Combined with a mount, sword, and magical treasures, it places him close to the strange warrior figures seen in ritual and guardian painting.
The Five-Cloud Camel
Yu Yuan rides the Five-Cloud Camel, also called the Golden-Eyed Camel. Golden light rises from its four feet, allowing it to travel rapidly through the air.
Tuxingsun becomes so impressed by the camel that he tries to steal it. He can climb onto its back but cannot truly control it. Yu Yuan then exploits Tuxingsun’s reluctance to leave the ground and captures him. The mount is therefore an active part of the story rather than a decorative accessory.
Master of the Blood-Transforming Divine Blade
Yu Yuan forged the Blood-Transforming Divine Blade together with three antidote pills. When Yu Hua wounds opponents, even Yuding Zhenren cannot simply remove the poison. Yang Jian must infiltrate Yu Yuan’s residence in disguise and steal the medicine.
Once Yu Yuan discovers the theft, he mounts the Five-Cloud Camel and pursues Yang Jian, completing a sequence of disguise, stolen medicine, discovery, and pursuit.
The Golden-Light File
Yu Yuan later enters battle personally. Riding out on the camel, he fights Jiang Ziya, Li Jing, and Weihu and deploys a Golden-Light File more than a foot long. Jiang Ziya blocks it with the Apricot-Yellow Flag, after which Yu Yuan turns the treasure against Li Jing.
This episode establishes Yu Yuan as a direct combatant who combines mounted fighting, swordsmanship, and magical weapons.
Difficult to Kill
Yu Yuan’s body is extraordinarily resistant to harm, and repeated attempts fail to kill him until a higher-order treasure is used.
