Yunzhongzi is a Chan immortal in Investiture of the Gods. He resides at Jade Pillar Cave on Zhongnan Mountain and is best known as the master of Lei Zhenzi.
As supernatural corruption grows within King Zhou’s palace, Yunzhongzi travels to the Shang capital in an attempt to eliminate the demonic influence there. He provides the king with a wooden sword intended to suppress the evil presence, but the decline of the Shang court continues.
During Ji Chang’s journey back toward Xiqi, Lei Zhenzi enters his family network and is later taken into the mountains by Yunzhongzi for training. Through immortal cultivation, Lei Zhenzi acquires his extraordinary appearance as well as powerful abilities of flight and combat.
When the Investiture war expands, Lei Zhenzi descends from the mountains to support the Zhou forces and becomes one of Xiqi’s notable supernatural warriors. Yunzhongzi is therefore directly connected with Lei Zhenzi’s training, lineage, and powers.
Within Celestial Generals, Yunzhongzi functions primarily as a Person Subject connecting Lei Zhenzi, Ji Chang, and the wider network of Chan immortals.
