Yuanshi Tianzun is one of the supreme leaders of the Chan tradition in Investiture of the Gods. Residing at the Jade Void Palace on Kunlun Mountain, he stands at the center of the religious network that includes Jiang Ziya and many of the immortals who support the Zhou cause.
Jiang Ziya studies at Kunlun before being ordered by Yuanshi Tianzun to descend into the human world and assist Xiqi in the campaign against the Shang and the larger mission of Investiture. As the war expands, more members of the Chan network enter the battlefield.
Important Zhou-side figures such as Nezha, Erlang Shen, and Lei Zhenzi have different immediate masters and backgrounds, but they operate within the broader supernatural alliance surrounding the Chan camp. Yuanshi Tianzun therefore occupies a higher position behind the human military struggle.
In the later stages of the war, Tongtian Jiaozhu personally establishes powerful formations such as the Immortal-Slaying Formation. Yuanshi Tianzun then enters the conflict directly alongside other senior immortals. Within Celestial Generals, he functions naturally as a Person Subject connecting Jiang Ziya, the Chan network, and the larger supernatural structure of the Investiture war.
