Lu Yue is one of the most recognizable plague-division figures in Investiture of the Gods and a classic combat-oriented immortal.
He is not a plague god who stands at a distance and casts curses. The novel has him ride the Golden-Eyed Camel, charge with a sword, manifest three heads and six arms, and use plague pellets and formations to create disaster on a vast scale.
He therefore combines three identities: warrior, strange adept, and magical god of calamity.
The Golden-Eyed Camel
Lu Yue rides the Golden-Eyed Camel directly into battle and confronts Huanglong Zhenren, Jiang Ziya, and others face to face.
Three Heads and Six Arms
While fighting Huanglong Zhenren, Lu Yue manifests three heads and six arms. This gives him an exceptionally strong divine-warrior image.
Nezha and Erlang Shen later join the attack, yet Lu Yue continues to meet them in direct combat.
Plague Weapons
Lu Yue carries several weapons and treasures associated with pestilence, including the Plague Bell, Form-Fixing Plague Banner, Plague-Stopping Sword, and Xingtian Seal.
Poisoning the City with Plague Pellets
Lu Yue’s most terrifying ability goes beyond fighting before the lines. He orders four disciples to carry plague pellets into Xiqi by magical escape techniques, while he rides through the city on the Golden-Eyed Camel scattering the pellets himself.
The poison reaches wells, springs, and waterways. Soon the population, the army, and members of the royal household fall ill, leaving the streets almost empty. The attack becomes a city-wide disaster rather than a normal contest of magic.
The Plague Formation
Lu Yue later establishes the Plague Formation. Riding the Golden-Eyed Camel and carrying a sword, he fights Jiang Ziya and retreats into the array, where he activates it with the Plague Umbrella.
Black mist, red sand, and poisonous vapors fill the formation, and even Jiang Ziya becomes trapped within it.
Progenitor of the Plague Division
The novel calls Lu Yue the progenitor of the plague division. After Investiture, he becomes the Haotian Great Emperor Who Governs Pestilence and commands the plague gods.
After death, Lu Yue is invested as the Haotian Great Emperor Who Governs Pestilence and commands the plague gods.
