Chang Hao is one of the Seven Monsters of Mount Mei in Investiture of the Gods. He is a serpent spirit who joins Yuan Hong and enters battle as a mounted warrior.
Great Serpent True Form
The novel describes Chang Hao as a great serpent and later exposes him as a large white snake. Wind, black mist, and poisonous breath accompany the transformation, giving him a long, low, and rapidly changing combat shape.
Spear Combat
In human form Chang Hao fights with a spear from horseback. When pressed, he suddenly abandons the mounted contest and reveals the enormous white serpent beneath the warrior guise.
The Winged Centipede Counter
Erlang Shen identifies the white-snake form and transforms into a large winged centipede. The encounter is built around one animal transformation countering another, ending Chang Hao’s attack.
