Yuan Hong is the central figure among the Seven Monsters of Mount Mei in Investiture of the Gods. He enters the Shang service and leads the Mount Mei fighters against the advancing Zhou army. His original form is a white ape, and he possesses the Eight-Nine Mysterious Art, giving him powerful transformations and making him difficult to subdue in direct combat.
Yuan Hong’s principal opponent is Yang Jian, whose own mastery of transformation creates a prolonged contest between two fighters using related supernatural arts. The battle cannot be settled by ordinary weapons alone. After Yuan Hong is restrained with the aid of Nüwa’s demon-subduing diagram, Jiang Ziya executes him with the Immortal-Slaying Flying Blade.
The white-ape form, the Eight-Nine Mysterious Art, and his leadership among the Mount Mei fighters define Yuan Hong’s CG identity. No fixed weapon, armor design, or costume is assigned until the CG Visual Canon is approved.
