Li Xingba is one of the Four Saints of Nine Dragon Island in Investiture of the Gods. He has cultivated for a thousand years with Wang Mo, Yang Sen, and Gao Youqian when Wen Zhong invites the four to aid Zhang Guifang against Xiqi. Li rides the strange beast Zhengning, carries a square-edged mace, and possesses the Splitting-Earth Pearl. The aura of the four beasts makes ordinary Zhou horses collapse, giving the newcomers an immediate advantage.
In the main battle, Li releases the Splitting-Earth Pearl and strikes Jiang Ziya in the chest while his companions attack Nezha, Huang Feihu, and Longxuhu. The combined assault drives the Zhou forces into danger. The situation changes when the disciples of Mount Wulong and the Zhou champions answer with their own treasures. Wang Mo, Gao Youqian, and Yang Sen are killed one after another, leaving Li to fight and then withdraw as Jiang Ziya prepares the Divine-Beating Whip.
On the road toward Chaoge, Li stops to rest and encounters Muzha. They fight, but Muzha releases the male Wugou sword and cuts him down, then buries the body. Death does not end his place in the divine order. During the final investiture, Jiang Ziya appoints Li Xingba with his three companions as the Four Sacred Grand Marshals Guarding Lingxiao Hall. The former enemy thus receives a heavenly office shared with the brothers beside whom he entered the war.
