Randeng Daoren is an important immortal on the Chan side of Investiture of the Gods and frequently serves as a senior coordinating figure during major supernatural battles.
As the war between Shang and Zhou enters a stage dominated by immortals, magical treasures, and powerful formations, ordinary military force is no longer sufficient. Randeng Daoren repeatedly appears with the Xiqi camp to analyze supernatural threats and organize the Chan immortals against them.
During major episodes such as the Ten Absolute Formations, Randeng participates alongside the Twelve Golden Immortals and other figures of the Chan network. His senior position often gives him a role in directing operations and judging how dangerous formations should be confronted.
Randeng Daoren also has important connections with figures such as Li Jing. In later religious interpretation, he becomes associated with the Buddhist Dipankara Buddha.
Within Celestial Generals, Randeng Daoren functions primarily as a Person Subject connecting Li Jing, Yuanshi Tianzun, and the senior supernatural network of the Chan tradition.
