Wang Gui is one of Yue Fei’s early sworn companions in The Story of Yue Fei and later becomes an important commander in the Yue Family Army. He knows Yue Fei and Tang Huai from their youth and enters military life as part of Yue Fei’s earliest circle of companions.
As Yue Fei gradually builds his military power, Wang Gui serves through repeated campaigns against the Jin forces. He is both a subordinate commander and a member of the older brotherhood that existed before the Yue Family Army became a great military organization.
As new warriors join Yue Fei’s cause, Wang Gui fights within an increasingly large network that includes figures such as Yue Yun and Niu Gao. Unlike characters defined by a single extraordinary weapon or spectacular feat, Wang Gui’s role emphasizes long service and enduring connection to Yue Fei.
Together with Tang Huai and the other early companions, Wang Gui gives the Yue Family Army a core that predates its later victories. His presence links Yue Fei’s youth, sworn brotherhood, and mature military command into a continuous personal network.
