Yue Ting is one of Yue Fei’s younger sons in The Story of Yue Fei, a child of the household that survives after its commander and eldest heir are murdered. His early importance comes from endurance rather than command: the Yue family must scatter, hide its names, and wait while Qin Hui’s faction still controls the court. Yue Ting grows into manhood carrying both the danger of his surname and the obligation to restore it.
His story gathers momentum when he meets Luo Hong and Ji Chengliang, descendants of other men drawn into the Yue legend. A public martial contest tests the younger heroes and helps reveal allies who have lived apart since the old army’s destruction. Yue Ting proves capable in the contest without being turned into a duplicate of Yue Yun. He then joins the circle of twenty sworn brothers whose parents’ loyalties, grievances, and unfinished campaigns converge around Yue Lei and the revived Yue cause.
The younger generation eventually marches against Jin and carries the family story beyond martyrdom. Yue Ting’s place is political as well as martial: his survival helps transform a condemned household back into an honored lineage. At the novel’s close the court clears Yue Fei’s name and rewards the sons and old followers. Yue Ting receives the title General of Wisdom and Courage. He is therefore the bridge between catastrophe and restoration—a son who cannot save his father, but lives long enough to reclaim the name that his enemies tried to extinguish.
