Yang Zongbao

Overview

杨宗保是杨家将第三代的重要人物，杨延昭之子，自幼随父征战，继承杨门忠勇善战的传统。他最著名的故事与穆桂英紧密相连：为破天门阵，杨宗保奉命前往穆柯寨求取降龙木，却被穆桂英擒获，二人在交锋中结缘并结为夫妻。此后杨宗保与穆桂英共同征战，成为杨门新一代的核心将领。在杨家将的故事体系中，他承接杨继业、杨延昭两代，又与穆桂英及下一代杨门人物相连，使杨家世代从军、满门忠烈的故事得以延续。

Yang Zongbao is a major figure of the third generation of the Generals of the Yang Family and the son of Yang Yanzhao. Raised in a military household, he followed his father into battle and inherited the Yang family tradition of loyalty and martial valor. His best-known story is closely connected with Mu Guiying. While seeking the Dragon-Subduing Wood needed to break the Heavenly Gate Formation, Yang Zongbao traveled to Mukezhai, where he was defeated and captured by Mu Guiying. Their encounter ultimately led to their marriage, and the two later fought together as leading warriors of a new generation of the Yang family. Through Yang Zongbao, the lineage of Yang Jiye and Yang Yanzhao continues into the stories of Mu Guiying and the succeeding generation of Yang heroes.
