Nian Deli is a formidable Jin champion in the closing northern campaign of The Story of Yue Fei. Serving Jin Wuzhu against Yue Lei’s army, he rides a camel and wields a heavy purple-gold hammer. His size, strength, and unusual mount make him a conspicuous heavy fighter rather than a strategist or sorcerer.
At Zhuxian Town he defeats Luo Hong, overpowers groups of four and then ten Song officers, and shakes Niu Gao’s hands open with a single hammer blow. Guan Ling, Di Lei, Lu Wenlong, Yan Chengfang, and Fan Cheng finally surround him. Lu Wenlong wounds the camel’s eye, Yan Chengfang smashes its head, and Fan Cheng kills the fallen warrior. Nian Deli’s brief but concentrated campaign is defined by repeated victories, the hammer-and-camel silhouette, and the combined force required to bring him down.
