Yin Hong is the younger son of King Zhou and Queen Jiang in Investiture of the Gods. After his mother’s murder and the order to kill both princes, Chijingzi rescues him and trains him at Cloud-Radiance Cave on Mount Taihua. The master sends him down to aid Zhou, but Yin Hong meets Shen Gongbao, accepts arguments of filial loyalty to the Shang house, and reverses the mission meant to avenge his own mother.
The novel equips him as a complete mounted immortal warrior: gold hair-crown, linked armor, red robe, animal-patterned battle skirt, Purple-Ribbon Immortal Garment, fangtian halberd, Water-and-Fire Edges, Yin-Yang Mirror, and Free-and-Easy Horse. The mirror’s white face brings death while the red restores life. Riding out as the second prince, Yin Hong meets Huang Feihu in direct halberd combat and also uses the mirror and protective robe to dominate opponents who cannot answer their powers.
Before the descent, Yin Hong swears that betrayal should turn his limbs to ash. Chijingzi eventually confronts the disciple but cannot overcome his own treasures by ordinary means, so he borrows the Taiji Diagram. Drawn inside its world, Yin Hong is reduced to flying ash and fulfills the exact penalty he pronounced. Red armor, two-colored mirror, paired edged weapons, and the horse give him a vivid martial form, while the broken oath supplies the tragic structure of his short campaign.
