Zhunti Daoren is one of the two leaders of the Western teaching in Investiture of the Gods, paired with Jieyin Daoren. He repeatedly travels east in search of those he considers destined for the West. His most famous intervention comes against Kong Xuan, whose five-colored divine light has defeated and captured many of Jiang Ziya’s commanders.
Zhunti brushes aside Kong Xuan’s weapons with the Seven-Treasure Wondrous Tree and withstands the five-colored light by revealing a many-headed, many-armed sacred form. He forces Kong Xuan to resume his peacock shape, mounts him, and takes him west after securing the release of the captured generals.
Later, Zhunti brings Jieyin east to complete the group of four teachers needed to break the Immortal-Execution Formation. He also fights at the Myriad Immortals Formation, using the Seven-Treasure Wondrous Tree and other manifestations against Tongtian Jiaozhu. Through his recruitment of Kong Xuan and his partnership with Jieyin, Zhunti becomes the Western teaching’s most active participant in the final stages of the war.
