Puxian Zhenren is a Chan immortal in Investiture of the Gods and the master of Muzha. He joins the immortals supporting Xiqi when the war becomes dominated by formations and magical weapons. In the Ten Absolute Formations, he enters the Cold Ice Formation and kills its master Yuan Jiao with the Wu-hook swords.
His most distinctive later action occurs in the Myriad Immortals Formation. Yuanshi Tianzun gives him the Taiji seal and orders him against Lingya Xian’s Two Principles Formation. Puxian reveals a three-headed, six-armed sacred form, overcomes the thunder and transformations within the formation, and binds Lingya Xian with the Long-Rainbow Cord.
Lingya Xian is forced back into the shape of a white elephant and assigned as Puxian’s mount. Together with Muzha, the formation seal, the manifested body, and the elephant, this victory gives Puxian a concrete story beyond his rank among the Chan immortals. It also places him directly in the destruction and reordering of Tongtian’s remaining disciples.
