Lin Chong
Overview
Lin Chong, nicknamed “Panther Head,” was originally an arms instructor of the 800,000-strong Imperial Guard in the Eastern Capital. A master of the eighteen-foot serpent spear and a warrior of exceptional skill, he is nevertheless restrained and long-suffering by nature. Hoping only to live an ordinary life, Lin Chong is relentlessly persecuted by the powerful Gao Qiu and his associates, gradually losing his family, position, and place in society. After the famous episode at the Temple of the Mountain God in the snowstorm, he finally turns to open resistance and joins Liangshan. Lin Chong is both one of Liangshan’s finest warriors and the quintessential embodiment of the Water Margin theme of being “driven to Liangshan.”
